ARA PUERTO DESEADO

 

The oceanographic ship Puerto Deseado, belonging to the Argentine Navy and transferred to CONICET by agreement, participates in scientific missions in the South Atlantic to determine the limits of the continental shelf.

 

The ship has a length of 76.8 meters, a beam of 15.8 m and a draft of 6.5 m. With a reinforced hull, indigenous design, equipped with laboratories to carry out research campaigns in the Argentine Sea and in Antarctica.
It is powered by 2 Man 9L20 / 27 diesel engines of 900 KW each, 2 ABB brand 380V, 120 KW AC electric motors for auxiliary propulsion and a Berg variable pitch propeller system, 2 propellers.
CONICET trusted Servintel International and its products to update the speed control of its power plant, replace the original system and update with GAC technology. We appreciate being able to assist the Navy and CONICET in continuous innovation.
