VIRACOPOS AIRPORT

Viracopos International Airport is located in Campinas, San Pablo, Brazil. Now it has a natural´s gas plant to generate energy during rush hours, between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.. This is the period in which the conventional electricity rate is three times more expensive in Brazil.

With this change, the airport will save 30% on the electricity bill and reduce the impact on the environment. With the initiative, Viracopos airport becomes the first in the country to use a bi-fuel kit in electric power generators, until then 100% powered by diesel. This mechanism allows the equipment to work with up to 70% natural gas and the rest of diesel.
