Control and Monitoring System on the ARA Puerto Deseado Ship

The oceanographic vessel Puerto Deseado, belonging to the Argentine Navy and transferred to CONICET by agreement, participates in scientific missions in the South Atlantic to determine the limits of the continental shelf.

It has a propulsion composed of 2 diesel engines Man 9L20/27 of 900 KW each, 2 electric motors of alternating current ABB brand of 380V, 120 KW, for auxiliary propulsion and Berg variable pitch propeller system, with 2 propellers.

CONICET entrusted Servintel and its products with updating the speed control of its electrical plant, replacing the original system and upgrading it with new technology. This update ensures more efficient and reliable operation.

The vessel has a length of 76.8 meters, a beam of 15.8 meters, and a draft of 6.5 meters. With a reinforced hull and native design, it is equipped with laboratories to conduct research campaigns in the Argentine Sea and Antarctica.
