Marketing

Servintel y Corvus Energy, alianza para sistemas de almacenamiento de energía marítima en Sudamérica

Servintel has established a partnership with Corvus Energy, the world leader in energy storage systems (ESS) for marine applications. The objective is to expand advanced technical capabilities and support services for battery-powered and hybrid vessels in South America.

This collaboration combines Corvus Energy’s global expertise in battery systems for marine applications with Servintel’s more than 40 years of experience in engineering, design, and operation of complex marine electrical systems.

As the marine industry moves toward electrification, the integration, control, and optimization of multiple energy sources, such as batteries, generators, and hybrid systems, are becoming increasingly important.

Technical Support, Field Services, and Training in Argentina

Through this partnership, Servintel will provide specialized technical support and field services related to Corvus Energy systems in Argentina. The collaboration will also focus on developing technical capabilities, including training programs for engineering teams and technical personnel.

Although the current partnership with Corvus Energy focuses on the Argentine market, Servintel has a broader regional presence, with operations in Argentina, Chile, and Brazil.

This strong regional presence positions Servintel to support the growing demand for advanced energy solutions in the marine sector, including hybrid and fully electric vessels throughout South America.

The China Zorrilla Ferry and Marine Electrification in South America

An important milestone for the region is the entry into service of one of the world’s most significant battery-electric vessels.

The China Zorrilla ferry, built by Incat Tasmania for Buquebus, will operate on the Río de la Plata, connecting Argentina and Uruguay.

Buquebus has been a Servintel customer for more than 30 years, during which time the company has provided ongoing maintenance services and technical support for its fleet. This long-standing relationship provides a solid operational foundation for supporting the next generation of electrified vessels.

Equipped with a large-scale marine battery system supplied by Corvus Energy, this project represents a significant step forward in the adoption of electric propulsion technologies in South America. Servintel will provide local support for the technical operation, maintenance, and performance of these systems, contributing to the vessel’s reliable and efficient operation.

Servintel and Corvus Energy on the Partnership

“As the marine industry in South America accelerates its transition toward electrification and hybrid operations, developing strong regional capabilities and establishing trusted local partnerships is essential. By working together with Servintel, we are strengthening specialized technical expertise, service readiness, and lifecycle support for advanced marine energy systems in Argentina. This collaboration ensures that vessel operators have access to reliable local support, training, and operational expertise to successfully implement and maintain next-generation hybrid and battery-electric propulsion solutions,” said Tor-Gunnar Hovig, Regional Manager for the Americas at Corvus Energy.

Fernando Carballo, CEO of Servintel, added:

“For Servintel, this partnership represents a natural step in strengthening our capabilities within the marine sector, where we have been active for many years. It allows us to deepen our specialized technical expertise and continue positioning ourselves at the forefront of technological innovation in marine energy systems. Beyond fully electric vessels such as the China Zorrilla, hybrid applications combining batteries and conventional power generation are becoming increasingly relevant. This is a strategic area for Servintel, where we apply our experience in control and energy management systems to contribute to efficient and reliable operations.”
